Santa Claus Village

Far away in the isolated wilderness of eastern Finland is a mysterious mountain called Korvatunturi where Santa Claus, called Joulupukki in Finnish, had been hidden away for years in his secret workshop. Upon realizing that it was so difficult for guests to visit his remote hideaway, he decided it was best to build a new village near the charming town of Rovaniemi in Finnish Lapland so he could welcome visitors from all over the world.

Located in the Arctic Circle, the Santa Claus Village is now renowned as Santa’s official “North Pole” residence and is one of the top tourist destinations in Finland with thousands of tourists flocking to meet Santa each year. The Village is open year-round for visitors of all ages to see Santa and his elves, visit Rudolf and the other reindeer or help Mrs. Claus decorate ginger bread cookies.  Visitors can also send postcards—with Santa’s special postmark—from the Santa Claus Post Office, shop for souvenirs at the various handcraft shops or learn about Finnish yuletide traditions at the Christmas exhibition.
