  • Day 1: Welcome to Lapland and Quest for the Northern Lights

Your blissful holiday begins at Kiruna Airport, where you are welcomed by our local staff and transferred to your own Wilderness cabin—your cosy residence for the next 3 nights. As dusk settles, bundle up for a thrilling guided dog sled tour into the wild to experience Lapland’s magical Northern Lights*. The guide will mush a team of 10-12 dogs and you sit 4-5 people on one big sled. Later, enjoy a hot coffee and snack around the fire before returning to your cabin to spend your first romantic evening together in Lapland!

    * Please note that the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) are a natural phenomenon and therefore sightings cannot be guaranteed.

    Highlights
  • Day 2: Snowmobile Adventure

Today is your chance to explore the magnificent mountains and Arctic forests of Lapland—one of the most beautiful places in Sweden! You are taken by bus to Nikkaluokta, where the tour continues by snowmobile in search of the majestic moose. Along the way, there will be a break to enjoy an authentic Lappish lunch with the tour leader and fellow travellers in a wilderness hut. You will also get to try ice fishing.

    Highlights Highlights
  • Day 3: Time For Each Other

The entire day is free to enjoy each other’s company as you wish. Why not rent a pair of skis or snow shoes to explore the stunning nature surrounding your cabin? Please note that it needs to be pre-booked. After enjoying the great outdoors, snuggle in front of a cosy fire in the wood-fired stove or relax in your private sauna.

    Highlights
  • Day 4: ICEHOTEL

This exciting day begins with a transfer to the ICEHOTEL and the Ice Church in Jukkasjärvi. On arrival to the ICEHOTEL complex you will be taken on a guided tour to learn the story of its unique concept. The original ICEHOTEL structure is entirely rebuilt each winter with snow and ice blocks from the nearby Torne River, and the new permanent ICEHOTEL 365 structure – equipped with large solar panels for year-round indoor cooling –is furnished with similar snow and ice designs inside.

Regardless of whether you spend the night in the new or original structure, the temperature inside is kept at around - 5°C (21°F) at all times. But no worries! You will receive a thermal sleeping bag to keep you warm and handy tips from ICEHOTEL staff on how to sleep comfortably in your own art suite, on soft reindeer skins atop a bed made of ice.

Please note that the Icehotel is under construction and opens up on December 15th. Until then, the guided tour and accommodation will be at the Icehotel 365, which is also used throughout the season.

    Highlights Highlights Highlights
  • Day 5: Departure

Awaken to a cup of hot Lingonberry juice served at your bedside and take advantage of the ICEHOTEL’s generous breakfast buffet. Transportation is then provided to Kiruna Airport in time for your departure flight.

Reviews

We don’t like to brag, so we’ll let our happy customers do it for us.

We learned so much and experienced unique customs

…Our total experience for all tours was very memorable. We learned so much and experienced unique customs and traditions and the Finns and Sami people were very friendly and informative. This is one experience I did not have on my bucket list, but glad we had the opportunity to experience such a wonderful time. Efficient tour operators from booking to the actual tours themselves made it a wonderful winter holiday experience. Thank you.

Full Marks!

My wife and I have just returned from our honeymoon in Lapland and I have to say, Irja (from www.nordicvisitor.com) was the key reason for it's success.

To begin with, the website itself allows for some great and VFM customizations.

But, from paying attention to each and every detail of two extremely finicky customers, to going through innumerable changes in the itinerary, Irja was instrumental in ensuring that we were traveling in comfort and style.

Even though our flight details changed at the very last minute, Irja and Cecilia ensured that all accommodations and transfers were taken care of.

The hotel and tour operators provided to us were absolute gems and the itinerary allowed for us to enjoy everything in Lapland with enough time to spare for ourselves too - which is my idea of a perfect holiday!

Whenever I plan my next scandinavian holiday, I will definitely be using www.nordicvisitor.com again.

Adventure Packages
All of Nordic Visitor’s Lapland travel packages should be considered adventure travel on account of being operated in the Arctic during sometimes extreme weather conditions and with the use of live animals for many excursions. For this reason, those booking a travel package in Lapland (except for those considered family travel packages) should consider themselves at least moderately physically fit and comfortable engaging in activities that are considered adventurous or strenuous.

Some things to keep in mind:
  • There will be snow and ice on the ground, sometimes making it difficult to walk.
  • No luggage handling services will be available. You must be prepared and able to carry your own luggage in snowy conditions.
  • Accommodations will be simple in comparison to what you’d find in major urban centres.
  • WC facilities encountered during excursions may be unheated outhouses without running water.
  • Reindeer and huskies run very fast. Those interested in participating in either a reindeer or husky safari should keep this in mind.
  • Some snowmobile safaris may require you to drive in the dark. Those interested in participating in snowmobile safaris should keep this in mind.
  • By law, those interested in driving a snowmobile must be able to present a valid driver’s license.
The safety of our travellers is our top priority at Nordic Visitor. We reserve the right to change or cancel departures if we feel the conditions will jeopardize the safety of our customers.
