Lapland is a very popular destination during the winter season and often gets fully booked. We recommend booking as early as you can and waiting to book your flights until you have received the email confirmation of your tour arrangements from your designated travel consultant.
If your ideal dates are not bookable in our calendar, please contact us for further details -- we may still be able to find availability.
Extra nights can be added on request. Contact us for details.
In general, our vacation packages in Lapland are child-friendly. But please keep in mind that many activities (e.g., snowmobile and dog sled tours) have an age limit of 4 years old. We also would not recommend staying overnight at the SnowCastle with young children. Feel free to contact us for ideas about suitable Lapland package for families.
This itinerary can also be reversed so that the tour starts in Rovaniemi and ends in Kemi.
The SnowCastle in Kemi does not open around the 20th of January each year, but if you would like to arrive earlier in January we can offer accommodation at the SnowHotel in nearby Rovaniemi instead.
This package requires a deposit payment of 50% of the total price at the time of booking. The final payment is charged 1 month prior to arrival.
More than 31 days prior to arrival: 50%
Less than 30 days prior to arrival: 100%
About Travelling in Lapland
All of Nordic Visitor’s Lapland travel packages can be considered 'adventure travel' on account of being operated in the Arctic (during sometimes extreme weather conditions) and with the use of live animals for many excursions. As some tours can be physically challenging, we do want to ensure that all of our guests are aware of this and are comfortable engaging in strenuous activities.
Some things to keep in mind:
There will likely be snow and ice on the ground, sometimes making it difficult to walk.
No luggage handling services are available. You must be prepared and able to carry your own luggage in snowy conditions.
Accommodations may seem simple in comparison to what you might be used to in urban centres. Remember, in Lapland the arctic nature is the deluxe experience.
WC facilities during excursions may be unheated outhouses without running water.
During dog sledding safaris, in which you share the controls of a team of huskies with another person, the person standing and driving the sled will need to kick to assist the dogs and may be required to run when sledding uphill.
Reindeer and huskies can run very fast. Those interested in participating in either a reindeer or husky safari should be physically capable of handling a speedy sled ride.
Some snowmobile safaris may require you to drive in the dark. And by law, those interested in driving a snowmobile must be able to present a valid driver’s license.
The safety and enjoyment of our travellers is our top priority at Nordic Visitor. We reserve the right to change or cancel departures if we feel that conditions may jeopardize the safety of our customers.
The driver of a snowmobile must be at least 18 years of age with a valid driver’s license.
Drinking alcohol is not allowed before driving a snowmobile.
Children are seated in a sled pulled by the guide's snowmobile during snowmobile safaris.
The northern lights are a natural phenomenon so sightings cannot be guaranteed. Evening excursions will operate according to the tour schedule, even in unfavourable viewing conditions (e.g., clouds in sky), and our guides will do their utmost to determine the best possible location for sightings.
Activities & Guides
This is a self-guided tour with scheduled guided excursions and activities. All accommodations and included activities and services (as specified in the itinerary) will be pre-booked by Nordic Visitor in close co-operation with trusted local suppliers.
You will not have a tour leader for the duration of your time in Lapland, but for each planned excursion you can expect a different qualified guide to lead the way. Keep in mind that you are responsible for making your way to the specified meeting point on time for the start of each excursion. The time between scheduled excursions and activities will be free-time for your own sightseeing and relaxation.
After Booking with Nordic Visitor
After booking your package with Nordic Visitor, you will be contacted within two working days (Monday to Friday) by one of our travel consultants who will serve as your dedicated contact person for all of your travel needs before, during and even after your holiday.
Before you travel, Nordic Visitor will provide you with a detailed personal itinerary and vouchers for all services and activities booked for your travel package. You will also be provided with Nordic Visitor’s 24/7 emergency helpline phone number so you can always reach a Nordic Visitor representative during your time in Lapland.
Note: These are activity-filled tours with many details, so it does take us some time to make all the arrangements for a complete travel package. Your dedicated travel consultant will need to book or reserve each included service individually with each supplier and personalize your itinerary accordingly. For this reason, we encourage you to book as far in advance as possible to ensure that your preferred travel dates, ideal accommodations and additional activities are available.
