  • Day 1: Arrival in Finnish Lapland and quest for the Northern Lights

Your exciting holiday commences at Rovaniemi Airport where you are met and transferred to your comfortable cabin. We recommend having an early dinner before your tour starts. As dusk settles, the guide prepares you for an exciting guided snowmobile trip into the wild to explore the extraordinary beauty of Lapland’s northern lights*. Two people share one snowmobile and takes turns in driving. Later, after enjoying a delicious hot beverage and light snack around a campfire, you are returned to the cabin.

    * Please note that the Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon and sightings cannot be guaranteed. This evening snowmobile safari starts at approx. 17:30 is only operated on Mondays, Wednesdays and Sundays. If you are arriving on any other day of the week we will move this safari to day 2 or 3 of your itinerary.

  • Day 2: Dog sled Ride & Traditional Finnish Sauna

Start the day with a ride to a husky kennel, where you will learn to “mush” and embark on a thrilling dog sled ride! The dogs howl and pull at their harnesses to get moving, and as soon as the anchor is lifted, they take off at full speed through the snowy forests and plains. 2 people share 1 sled and takes turns in driving. Back at the kennel, you have some time to enjoy a hot beverage with the guide before your transfer back to the cabin.

The rest of your day is free to enjoy this spectacular destination. Why not do as the locals and relax in the traditional Finnish sauna at your cabin?

  • Day 3: Evening at the Arctic Snow Hotel

Explore Rovaniemi on your own today. If you’re interested in learning more about local history, nature and culture, we suggest a visit to the Arktikum Museum, featuring exhibits about Finnish Lapland and the Arctic region. You can also add more outdoor adventures to your holiday from our selection of day tours, though we do recommend booking these well in advance.

In the evening, you are taken to the Arctic Snow Hotel in Lehtojärvi, a magical place with excellent opportunities to view the northern lights (if conditions are right). After a guided tour of this fascinating hotel, enjoy an atmosphere-rich dinner inside a warm Lappish tepee on the premises. Around midnight you are returned to your cabin.

    * The Arktikum Museum is closed on Mondays.

Optional upgrade: overnight at the Arctic Snow Hotel or in a Glass Igloo

For a truly memorable Lapland experience, spend the night at the Arctic SnowHotel. There are 3 different accommodation options at the Arctic Snow Hotel:

    Snow Rooms
The Arctic Snow Hotel’s snow rooms are for two persons. The furniture in the snow rooms is basically made of snow. The beds have been made more comfortable with soft and warm clothes and the rooms have electric lights. The toilet and shower facilities are in the main log building

    Snow Suites
As a special treat, we offer accommodation in snow suites, which are decorated with snow art and sculpture, among other things. The suites are extremely well suited for memorable events, such as wedding nights and other very special occasions. The toilet and shower facilities are in the main log building

    Glass Igloos
Our 15 unique “northern lights friendly” Arctic Glass Igloos are located just next to the Arctic SnowHotel. They offer “all-sky vision” in complete comfort. They are private, comfortable and spacious (20 m²) warmly insulated, all-sky thermal-glass roofs, heated floors adjustable twin beds and a bathroom with a shower cabinet.

In the afternoon the trip continues by car to Santa Claus Village with time to do shopping in Santa Claus’ Village. • No luggage handling services will be available. You must be prepared and able to carry your own luggage in snowy conditions.

  • WC facilities encountered during excursions may be unheated outhouses without running water.
  • During husky safaris where you share one team of huskies with another person, the person standing to drive the sled will need to kick to assist the dogs and may be required to run when sledding uphill.
  • Reindeer and huskies run very fast. Those interested in participating in either a reindeer or husky safari should keep this in mind.
  • Some snowmobile safaris may require you to drive in the dark. Those interested in participating in snowmobile safaris should keep this in mind.
  • By law, those interested in driving a snowmobile must be able to present a valid driver’s license.

Activities & Guides
This is a self-guided tour with scheduled guided excursions and activities. All accommodations and included activities and services (as specified in the itinerary) will be pre-booked by Nordic Visitor in close co-operation with trusted local suppliers. You will not have a dedicated guide for the duration of your time in Lapland, but can expect a different qualified guide for each planned excursion. After booking with Nordic Visitor
After booking your package with Nordic Visitor, you will be contacted within two working days by one of our travel consultants, who will serve as your dedicated contact person for all of your travel needs before, during and even after your holiday. Before you travel, Nordic Visitor will provide you with a detailed personal itinerary and vouchers for all services and activities booked for your travel package. You will also be provided with Nordic Visitor’s 24/7 emergency helpline phone number where you can always reach a Nordic Visitor representative during your time in Lapland.
Please note: It takes time to make all the arrangements for a complete travel package. The travel consultant must book or reserve each included service individually with each supplier and personalize each itinerary accordingly. For this reason, we encourage our clients to book as far in advance as possible to ensure that your preferred travel dates, accommodation class and additional activities are available.
