Experience Kemi‘s annual architectonic snow-work
First constructed in 1996, the SnowCastle is the largest snow-and-ice hotel in the world, ranging from 13,000 to 20,000 square metres. This fortress-like structure is rebuilt each winter using frozen ice blocks from the Gulf of Bothnia, the northernmost part of the Baltic Sea. Along with beautifully decorated snow rooms in the hotel, the vast complex includes the atmospheric SnowChapel, the spacious SnowRestaurant—where all the tables and chairs are made of ice—and an ice art exhibition. The castle is open from the end of January until mid-April.
Also on site are the year-round Seaside Glass Villas, offering fantastic views over the Bay of Bothnia. Each villa is 21m2 and includes a mini-kitchen and bathroom with shower.
